Euclid Wills - Generation 2
Little information remains today about Euclid Wills. We know he was married in Bedford, County, Virginia. He is also resident of Campbell County, Virginia in the late 1700s from the records, as shown below. Sometime during the late 1700s, Euclid and some of his family moved to Montgomery County, Kentucky. He died in Montgomery County, Ky. The text of his will follows below.

From the book, Genealogies of Kentucky Families, From the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, Surnames O - Y, Page 349:10 The Prichard family lived in Bedford and nearby Henry County, Va. Some members, including William Prichard, moved to Russell County, Va., and then to Greenup County, Ky. William's son James Prichard, who married Elizabeth Stuart, was born May 3, 1796, died in Boyd County, Ky., Sept. 21, 1877. Among others from Bedford County was Euclid Wills, who married Betsy Stewart, daughter of Elizabeth Smith, April 3, 1780 in Bedford County and later settled in Montgomery County, Ky., where his will was probated Much 12, 1799. Betsy has not been identified.

In
the name of God Amen. I Euclid Wills of the County of Campbell being weak of
body but of perfect sense & memory do make this my last will & Testament
in manner and form following that is to say first and principally, I commend my
soul to the Almighty God hoping for his mercy in the permission of all my sins
thro' the merits of Jesus my only mediator and advocate and my body to be Buried
at the discretion my friends & as for such state as it hath pleased God to
favour me with. I dispose thereof as followeth (viz) ____ my will is that my
Just debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged. Item. I give unto my
Daughter Sally one shilling.

of one or more of the subscribing Witnesses here to annexed in order that the
said Will may be Recorded.

County of Campbell and State of Virginia Granting whereof Euclid Wills have died
and left this Instrument of Writing as or for his last will and Testament and
only one of the Witnesses thereto subscribed by us their Commonwealth so that
the said Will cannot be admitted to Record unless the proof of one (or more) of
the other subscribing witnesses can be procured and sent forward to our
County Court of Montgomery.
Know
ye therefore that we Trusting to your fidelity and provident circumspections to
give unto you or any two or more of you full power to cause to come before you
at such time and proceed as you shall think proper any of the subscribing
Witnesses to this Will annexed (to wit) Alexander Kelly, William Wabbar or John Wayne
any one or more of them and take their examination
on the holy Evangelist of Almighty God "that they saw the said
Euclid Wills sign and acknowledge this Instrument of Writing as and for his last
will and Testament that they (or he) believes he was of perfect mind and memory
and that they (or he) signed their names (or name) as witnesses (or witness)
thereto in his presence") And when you have taken his (or their)
examinations as a foresaid you send and Certify in their & in our said
County Court under your seals returning also this writ and this last will and

Writing hereto annexed as and for his last will and Testament that they believe
he was of perfect mind and memory and that they subscribed their names thereunto

This last will and Testament of Euclid Wills deceased
with the Commission here to annexed was returned and the same is ordered to be
Recorded. And on the motion of of Betsey Wills wife and relict of the said
Euclid Wills decd who made oath as the Law directs, and who together with Joseph
Farrow her security Entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of
£ 300 and thereupon Administration is Granted her with the will annexed in due
form.
