Charles P. Wills 1799, -1884, Generation 3

The following is extracted from an e-mail message from June Marchman dated June 3, 1999:

Back to Charles P. Wills 2nd wife, Julia Ann Parker b.1839, widow of Noah Parker, dau. of Eli and Nancy (Lockard) Taylor. Charles P. was ill and needed someone to take care of him. "Aunt Nan" could not at that time live in the house with him, (it would have caused a scandal) so she married him.

He left her 10 acres of his land and the home provided she didn't marry again. She didn't. A few years
later she was bitten by a snake while gathering eggs and was never well again, died a few years later.
I have this from a letter of Annie Jane to Mama. Aunt Nan/Julia Ann was a sister to their Grandmother
Charlotte Rebecca (Taylor) Witt. This explains Charles P.'s will, I think I sent you a copy.

The following text was written by Linda Knight Wilson. It is undated and was found in the Bedford County, Va. Museum in June of 1998. Portions were extracted from a larger document.

One of Jesse's brothers, Charles P. Wills (born Dec. 27, 1799 in Bedford, VA), paid the Governor of Virginia, James Pleasants, $150.00 for a marriage bond to marry Mary R. Daughtery on November 2, 1825. James Daughtery, Mary's father, kicked in hall of the $150.00 as was the custom. It seems that Charles lived a long life of 86 years, but only had two children -- Mary, and Charles Admire Wills.
